Managing More Than Just Roads: Diorama Students Meet Indore’s Iconic Dancing Traffic Cop

As part of our Diorama Industry programme, our management students recently visited a Traffic Station in Indore to explore the workings of Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS)—and came away with much more than technical know-how.

The highlight of the visit? Meeting none other than Indore’s legendary Dancing Traffic Cop—a local icon whose unique approach to traffic control has earned admiration across the country and even abroad.

What the Visit Included:

• Understanding Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS): Students got a detailed overview of modern traffic management technologies including real-time monitoring, signal synchronization, surveillance systems, and data-driven traffic control.

• Live Operations in Action: By observing the control room and traffic junctions in real-time, students saw how technology, coordination, and human efficiency combine to manage one of India’s cleanest and fastest-growing cities.

• Interaction with Traffic Officials: Students engaged with officers who shared insights into challenges such as peak-hour congestion, public awareness, and enforcement of road safety laws.

The most memorable moment came when students met the Dancing Traffic Cop of Indore, whose joyful style of traffic control has made him a viral sensation and a symbol of civic pride and discipline.
